From a grass edge to a planted entrance

A closer look at one of the before-and-after pairs in Green Valley Landscape’s renovation portfolio.

Before: grass beside a parking area and building entrance
Before: grass extends along the edge of the parking area.
After: a curved block-edged planter with mulch, succulents and flowering plants beside the entrance
After: a defined planting bed adds different forms, heights and textures.

What the photographs show

The earlier photograph shows a grass strip between the buildings and the parking area. In the later view, a curved bed with block edging defines the planted area beside the entrance. Mulch surrounds a mix of succulents, low planting and taller flowering plants.

The most visible change is the structure of the space: a broad grass edge becomes a clearly outlined planter with a wider range of plant forms. The photographs show the appearance of the landscape at two points in time.

Planning a similar improvement

An entrance or shared planting area is a useful starting point for a renovation discussion. Think about the boundaries of the space, the planting you want to retain and the relationship between the landscape and nearby walkways or parking.

Green Valley Landscape’s renovation services include planter areas, planting and hardscape improvements. Our irrigation team can also discuss the existing system and the needs of new planting.
